Mainstream Private Equity CEO speaks at Rowan University

Mainstream CEO of Private Equity, Jay Maher, recently spoke at Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business, presenting an insightful introduction to Private Equity and Fund Accounting.

The presentation provided students a detailed overview of private equity fund structures, what they invest in, and the operational infrastructure required to service the fund managers and their investors. Technology and how it has evolved into a key operational tool used to process and report data was a key focus.

Jay commented, “I wanted to share my experiences over the past 25 years with the students and broaden their knowledge of the alternative investment industry, specifically close-end funds: Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Real Estate. Alternative Investments and Operations are typically not part of the core curriculum of accounting programs in our colleges and universities. Yet, a large percentage of graduates with accounting degrees will likely work on these types of funds in auditing, tax preparing, or fund accounting.”

The discussion included helpful advice for the upcoming graduates in preparing for a career in private equity, fund accounting, and the unlimited opportunities that exist in the market.
