Martin Smith, Chief Executive Officer
Chief Executive Officer

Martin is a founder, director and the CEO of Mainstream. Based in Sydney, he is responsible for global operations, execution of strategy and key client relationships. Prior to co-founding Mainstream in 2006, Martin worked for FinancialBPO, The IQ Business Group and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting designing, implementing and managing outsourcing/shared services arrangements across a range of industries including financial services, government, health, real estate, logistics and information technology.

Martin gained his skills with Coles Myer as the Financial Controller of Liquorland in the 1990’s. Martin is RG146 compliant and holds a Bachelor of Business, a Masters of Commerce and is a Certified Practising Accountant.

Jay Maher
Chief Executive Officer, Americas

Jay is a recognized leader in private equity administration. Jay began his fund accounting career in 1993 for Merrill Lynch. He then became a pivotal team member in the growth of Geller Investment Partnership Services, a boutique private equity administrator. Jay went on to be a founding partner of Northport Partnership Services in 2004, providing specialized services to PE, VC, and RE Fund Managers. Jay and his partners gained significant traction in the market and partnered with SS&C to expand their offering.

Northport was acquired by SS&C Inc. in 2007 and Jay became the Global Head of Private Equity. Under Jay’s leadership the business grew from $3 billion in Assets under Administration to $150 billion.  Jay left SS&C in 2015 and has partnered with Mainstream to buildout his team’s current offering, which is an evolution of Jay’s success over the past 25 years.  Jay has developed the industry’s best workflow processes focused on technology.  He has developed a deep pipeline of business feeders throughout his career, and works closely with the industry’s best audit, consultant, and legal teams.

Jay earned an B.S. in Accounting from Rowan University.

Nick Happell
Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific

Nick is the CEO of Mainstream Fund Services, Asia Pacific, responsible for building relationships with our key clients and ensuring their expectations are met. Nick has previously worked in the investment administration and Client Services team. Nick holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Andy Harrison
Chief Executive Officer, Australia

Andy Harrison is the CEO of Mainstream Fund Services in Australia. Andy has over 16 years of experience in outsourcing, custody, fund accounting, registry, investment operations and middle and back office solutions for fund managers. Prior to joining Mainstream, Andy was CEO of Link Fund Solutions (formerly White Outsourcing). From March 2009 to December 2010, Andy was a Non-Executive Director of HUB24 (ASX:HUB). Prior to working in Australia, Andy worked in the UK with Jupiter Asset Management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business from the University of Wolverhampton.

Head of Client Services, Australia

Nick joined Mainstream Fund Services in 2012 to oversee Mainstream’s managed account offering. He is now responsible for developing partnerships with both new and existing business as Head of Client Services. Prior to working at Mainstream Nick worked as an academic at Macquarie University’s Faculty of Business and Economics. Nick holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Masters of Economics from the University of Sydney.

Michael Garrett
Head of Unit Registry

Michael Garrett leads Mainstream’s Australian Unit Registry team, including Investor Services, Processing and Quality Assurance, with a focus on service delivery for our clients.

Michael Garrett has more than 20 years of experience as an operations leader, including transfer agency, trade and derivative operations, client reporting, fund administration, reconciliations, onboarding and performance. Michael was previously Head of Australian Business Operations for 12 years at Blackrock Investment Management, and has also held senior operations roles with BT Financial Group, RBC Global Services and Perpetual Fund Services.

Amber Lo
Head of Fund Services, Country Manager Hong Kong

As Head of Fund Services and Country Manager Amber heads up fund services and business operations for Mainstream Fund Services in Hong Kong. With more than 10 years of experience working in fund administration, Amber previously worked for Mainstream from 2008-2010. She has also worked for Euroclear Bank, Hang Seng Bank and Alliance Bernstein in a variety of client management, business strategy and operational roles.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Business from Monash University.

Angela Nightingale
CEO, Apex Fund Solutions (Cayman) Limited

Angela is CEO of Apex Fund Solutions (Cayman) Limited (formerly Mainstream Fund Services (Cayman) Limited) in the Cayman Islands. Angela has a broad experience with funds, corporate governance, liquidations, regulatory and compliance requirements of the Cayman Islands and holds a BAcc from the University of Phoenix.

In addition, Angela holds a number of industry qualifications including CAMS and Int. Adv. Cert (Comp) (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) Professional Designation and (ICA Advanced Certificate in Compliance) Professional Designation. She is also a Notary Public in the Cayman Islands and holds the ICSA Accredited Director designation (Acc.Dir) from the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada.

Angela is an executive member of the Cayman Islands Fund Administrators Association (CIFAA), a member of the Cayman Islands Compliance Association (CICA), and is a participant in a number of other industry group committees. Ms. Nightingale is resident in the Cayman Islands and is a Cayman Islands Monetary Authority registered director under the Director Registration & Licensing Law.

CEO, Apex Fund Solutions (Ireland) Limited

Barbara Purcell is the CEO of Apex Fund Solutions (Ireland) Limited (formerly known as Mainstream Fund Services (Ireland) Limited), with responsibility for our Dublin operations.

Barbara joined Mainstream in 2018 and was previously COO of the Group’s Irish operations before being promoted to CEO, Ireland in 2020.

Barbara has more than 27 years of experience in fund administration, having previously worked for Trinity Fund Administration (now part of the Mainstream Group) for ten years from 1994 to 2004 and having also worked as an independent consultant within the funds industry for thirteen years.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Dublin City University and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Ian Dungate
Country Manager, Isle of Man

Ian is Country Manager of Mainstream Fund Services, Isle of Man. He began his career in fund administration over 25 years ago at CIBC and Bank of America in the Cayman Islands and Abacus Financial Services in the Isle of Man. In 2005 he moved to Anglo Irish Fund Services and formed part of the management team which undertook a management buyout of the Company, then named Galileo Fund Services Limited, in 2007, before becoming part of the Mainstream group in 2016.

Ian graduated with an honours degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of England and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA).

John Davis
Country Manager, Singapore

John joined Mainstream Fund Services as a graduate in 2008 and has held a variety of fund services roles including portfolio valuation, unit pricing and performance measurement. He is currently Mainstream Fund Services’ Singapore country manager. John holds an Engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration majoring in finance.

Natalya Pace
Country Manager, Malta

Natalya is Apex Fund Solutions’ (formerly known as Mainstream Fund Services (Malta) Limited) country manager in Malta. Natalya has over 15 years’ experience in financial services operations and fund accounting. She has previously worked for Apex Fund Services and Société Générale.

Natalya holds a degree in Banking and Finance (Honours) from University of Malta and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Jenny Elhassan
Head of Project Management Office

Jenny is responsible for co-ordinating projects that deliver process improvement, automation and digital services for our clients and their investors. She also oversees Mainstream’s client onboarding and transitions team.

Jenny has extensive experience in business process design and delivery, operations and transitions across the funds management sector.

Jenny first joined Mainstream in 2005 and has also worked for BNP Paribas, Perpetual Corporate Trust, State Street and St George Bank (Group Treasury).

Rachel Parris
Head of Human Resources

Rachel has more than 18 years of progressive leadership, human resources, project leadership and culture and engagement experience. In her previous role, Rachel was the Human Resources Director for 11 years with an ASX listed Company. As the Head of HR, Rachel is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource function globally, establishing and driving the people strategy and acts as a key advisor to the senior leaders across the company. Rachel hold a Human Resources and Industrial Relations degree from the University of Western Sydney.

Head of Risk and General Counsel

Silva Seferian Jacotine is Head of Risk and General Counsel for Mainstream Group Holdings Limited.

Silva has over 20 years of experience as a corporate, investment funds and commercial lawyer. Prior to joining Mainstream, Silva was a Partner in the corporate and investment funds group of Travers Thorp Alberga in the Cayman Islands, specialising in hedge funds, private equity structures, and all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including regulatory advice, compliance and governance.  Silva has also worked as a corporate lawyer for Walkers, Gilbert + Tobin, DLA Piper (formerly Phillips Fox), as well as in-house at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s wealth management arm.

Silva holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia, a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the University of Technology Sydney.

Stacey Kelly
Chief Financial Officer

Stacey Kelly is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Mainstream Group Holdings Limited. Stacey has over 15 years of experience in business partnering, project management, financial control, forecasting and management. Prior to joining Mainstream, Stacey held roles with Macquarie Telecom Group, Macquarie Group and HSBC Bank.

Stacey holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia, a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Mathematics and Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Macquarie University and is a Certified Practising Accountant.

Tony Hawker
Head of Technology

Tony is the Head of Technology for Mainstream as well as Senior Network Engineer for Mainstream Digital Services. Based in Sydney, he is responsible for overseeing IT operations for the Mainstream group.

Tony has over 15 years’ experience in the information technology industry, with a focus on IT security. Prior to joining Mainstream Tony worked in the professional services and local council sector in a variety of IT and networking roles.

He holds a Diploma in Network Engineering along with a raft of industry accreditations.

Byram Johnston OAM
Non-Executive Chairman

Byram co-founded Mainstream and serves as its Non-Executive Chairman.

Before establishing Mainstream, Byram served as the managing partner at Arthur Anderson, Sydney and has a strong advisory and consulting background. He is a member of the ASIC Audit Committee and is also involved in a number of other corporate and government boards and committees.

Byram is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from Sydney University. He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2004 for services to the accounting, medical research and motor sport industries.
